CAAC offers legal assistance to persons age 60 and older through a contract with Legal Services of Alabama. An attorney is available to assist with such matters as:

• Income maintenance
• Defense of guardianship
• Elder abuse, neglect and exploitation
• Health care issues
• End-of-life issues
• Individual rights
• Powers of attorney
• Home ownership issues

The attorney is NOT available to assist with criminal issues, bankruptcy or fee-generating cases such as lawsuits.

Sometimes appointments can be scheduled for homebound seniors in their homes and for residents of nursing homes in the facilities.

CAAC does not charge a fee for these services; however, voluntary donations are encouraged. Priority for services is given to those in greatest need.
